We spent most of the day getting the house ready for our Christmas guests. The first half of my family will be coming in tomorrow. I managed to get most of the house picked up but I still have to finish the last part of the office. I can send the end of the road finally!
Catherine had been going to gymnastics on Wednesday night with the older girls group but for the last month or so she has been saying she didn’t want to go anymore. I let her stay home for a couple of weeks, which is when I really saw her clinginess levels spike. I brought her back and she seemed to have a good time but she still complained. I figured that maybe she was feeling a bit overwhelmed watching the bigger girls do more complex moves. So, we decided to try her out on the Monday class with girls her own age. She ran in acting excited but as soon as she sat down in the group, she had a HUGE meltdown. I got her calmed down and back into the class and she started crying again. The teacher had her sit and watch and kept trying to engage her but she wouldn’t budge. Finally one of the other instructors pulled one of the other girls to have her invite Catherine to join in on the fun, and once that happened, Catherine happily joined in. I’m not sure what is going on with her but I feel like I haven’t helped the situation by keeping her home. She doesn’t get enough time with other kids and after tonight, I realized that it’s important that we keep her engaged in this program. I just wish there were more activities that she could participate in that doesn’t have me involved directly with her. This age is so tough! I do think she will do better with the younger girls though.
Snowman was hiding in the birdcage this morning with a new friend. I had to help Catherine find him because he wasn’t in an obvious spot. She sure did want to have his new friend once she spied him.
