Thanksgiving Leaves 3
It’s always good to count your blessings. We have so much to be thankful for! As Catherine gets older, I want to teach her to have a spirit of thanksgiving and to always look at her blessings. It’s easier said than done. I know that I have to constantly make an effort at counting those blessings instead of wanting more.
Since this is the time of year where we celebrate Thanksgiving, I wanted to start the tradition of creating a thanksgiving tree. I have a vague recollection of my parents doing this when I was a child and I have seen it time and time again on the internet. Now that Catherine is starting to understand more and more about concepts, I figure that this would be the year to start. Every night in November we each take a leaf and write what we are thankful for that day. We are supposed to hang them on a tree but I haven’t found a suitable one just yet. I think the traditional sticks sold at craft stores are long gone. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know!
So far we are really enjoying this tradition. I know that I think about my daily blessings more and more when I do a gratitude project like this. Catherine is always excited about sharing something for her leaf. It’s too cute with some of the things she is thankful for.

Apologies for the black and white photos. I took these photos using flash because it was too dark…and I hate flash photos.

If you can’t find a tree you could just glue them to the windows in your breakfast area. They would make a great window decoration!

Thanks Heidi! That’s a great idea!
Julie- We have really enjoyed doing this. Catherine can’t wait to tell us what she’s thankful for. Usually it’s one of her My Little Pony’s but it’s still cute!
