That Time of Year 5
Chinese New Year is only two weeks away and somehow, someway we have a CNY event to go to nearly every weekend until the end of February. Our Families with Children From China group has an amazing group of families on the north side of Houston. The group is so big that they have broken into smaller groups for smaller events. Because we are friends with several families on that side of town, we have participated with them more this year. Today the festivities were kicked off with a late lunch at a Chinese restaurant (had some awesome chow fun) and then some shopping at a local Chinese store.
It really makes my heart happy to see Catherine hang out with the other girls by her own choosing. She really, really loves the older girls and wants to be a part of what they are doing. Over the last couple of months she has even shown favor over certain kids. She really does not like kids that are ‘in your face’ hyper. She likes the kids that are more gentle with her and engage her in a more toned down sense of play. There are three kids that I can think of off of the top of my head that always try to chase her or drag her around and she has now gotten to the point where she will run away from them or tell them ‘no!’ She has even told me on a few occasions that she does not like them. I’m trying to figure out how to deal with that situation. Anyway, I love seeing her make friends! I can’t wait to see what this year’s CNY activities have in store for us! It’s one of my favorite holidays!
Sorry for the junky quality of the photos. I can’t shoot a photo indoors to save my life and I didn’t bring my good camera with me.

She’s looks so grown up with those big girls! Megan doesn’t like the “crazy” friends, either, but she’s not to the point of saying “NO!” or telling me that she doesn’t want to be with those friends. But, she does hang close to me when we’re around them…and just watches them in all their craziness.

When we were in Waco we would hear about all the great stuff you guys in Houston had going on. I was very jealous!

I love the pictures. Sarah will not even go near those that are hype/not nice. It is amazing how those girls flock to the sweet ones. We had a fabulous time with ya’ll yesterday and hope that Sarah is never like those girls.

Uh-oh… I don’t think Catherine would like our Tongginator, although maybe… but she DEFINITELY wouldn’t like the Tongginator’s best buds Cinnamon and Spice. Those girls are HYPER in a huge way. Glad y’all had such a great time. Our party is this coming Saturday and I am desperate to find people willing to face paint. Scrounging up volunteers is so! much! fun!
