28 Months and the Close of Summer 5

We have had a pretty laid back summer and while I am ready for the heat to go away, I am a little sad to see the summer of 2009 fade away.  We spent quite a bit of time playing in the water but didn’t swim at the pool as much as I had hoped we would.  Catherine is such a water baby that I had figured we would have spent nearly every day at the pool.  It didn’t work out that way but we still managed to make some great memories.  I am sad to say that I didn’t take as many pictures as I had hoped either.  We just got too busy playing or lazing about that I didn’t think about the camera too much and with that I am a bit disappointed.

Catherine turns 28 months old today.  I feel as if she has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of months.  It’s hard to believe that last summer she looked like this:

And this summer she looks like this:

Last summer she was learning to walk and this summer she wants to jump off the side of the pool by herself.  My how a year can change a child!

She is talking up a storm still and working on annunciation of words has seemed to help quite a bit.  Every day I am a bit more amazed that I can hear her words clearer and clearer.  Sometimes it shocks me to hear her say something and I will make her repeat it just to make sure I heard her say it correctly.  One of things that really cracks me up is if I tell her that she can’t have something or if she has to wait for something, she will say, ‘maybe ‘nother day.’  She says it all of the time and it’s so cute.

She is turning from a cute, cute baby into a very pretty little girl.  She has an attitude to boot and is constantly trying to figure out what she can and cannot do.  Her mind never stops whirling and twirling and her body doesn’t either (except when she is glued to the tv watching Yo Gabba).  Most days I am exhausted by the time we tuck her in but most days she has us cracking up.

I am sad to see the summer go but I am really looking forward to all that the fall will bring.  I am excited to see how school will shape her and mold her.  And I am excited about a list of plans that we have made.  I am praying that the last half of this year goes as well as the first!
