27 Months Old 10
I now interrupt my scheduled blogging break to bring to you a few pictures and a 27 month update on Catherine.
The summer is flying by and in just a couple of short weeks, Catherine will be starting her first year of pre-school. I know she is going to love it! But it’s just crazy to realize how fast this summer flew by!
Today Catherine turned 27 months old. I wanted to take a few pictures so that we can always remember this day and how wonderful our summer has been. I pulled out two dresses that I wore when I was about her age. The pictures that I took in these dresses are in a scrapbook but I will try and figure out how I can take them out and scan them so that you can see them. She fit them perfectly! If I had waited too much longer, she probably would not have been able to wear them.
Here is what Catherine has been up to:
- She is still talking non-stop but we are having to work on pronunciation. She is getting better at saying words but we are still having to work hard at it.
- She is now starting to do imaginative play which is really fun to watch. Her babies cry, and then she pats them and puts them to bed. She cooks for them and sometimes has tea parties with them and her stuffed animals.
- She has named three of her stuffed animal dogs after real life dogs that she knows.
- Her favorite color is blue. She knows all of the colors and loves to point them out.
- She is finally starting to work on her two year molars. So far she hasn’t been too cranky about it. She just sticks her fingers in her mouth and says ‘owie.’
- She takes showers now instead of baths and she likes to try and wash her own hair.
- She brushes her own teeth but we still follow up to get them good and clean.
- She loves buckles, laces, latches, and hooks. There is a Melissa & Doug puzzle that I am going to have to break down and get for her because I know she would love it.
- She likes to cut paper with children’s safety scissors. She also likes to paint and color. She has a little bit of an artist in her.
- Her favorite phrases right now are: NO Mommy! NO Daddy! Ni Hao (Chinese greeting) and Ji Jin (Goodbye in Chinese)
- Her favorite show is still Yo Gaba Gaba but now she sings and dances a long.
- She has the funniest sense of humor. I hope it stays with her.
- She like to Skype with Nana and Papa and do show and tell with them.
- She is starting to act a bit shy around new people but she quickly warms up to them.
- She is trying to become super independent. The battle of the wills are certainly happening at our house.
- She doesn’t eat much but she will try and eat a bit of a cucumber that she has picked from our garden.
- She likes to play with older kids. Kids her own age she doesn’t want anything to do with.
- Her favorite toys are still her baby dolls and stuffed puppy dogs.
- She loves to visit the library and she loves to read.
Well, that’s it for now! Here are a few more photos from today. I will post the rest on Facebook and on Flickr.

She’s adorable! I’m envious, and happy that you made the motherhood dream come through for yourself and your husband.

Ah… 27 months old… I remember that age. I used to bite my tongue when strangers would say to me, “they are so cute when they’re that age. Enjoy it while you can.” And yet… they were right. Heh.

What a cutie! Can you believe how fast the time flies? I mean, it seems like just yesterday we were looking at photos our sweet little girls waiting to get them! Now are girls are growing up! Just the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed how much Megan has grown up…sniff, sniff.

Wendy,
Please forgive me for leaving this in your comments, I didn’t run across an email address for you on here.
First, I wanted to thank you for your lovely comment on my blog last week. I handed my blackberry over to my hubby to read it when it came in, and he was touched. I’m just amazed by how the fire community isn’t limited to the guys he knows and works with. Thank you so much.
Second, what a lovely blog you have here! And gorgeous pictures. Officially adding you to my daily reads!
Thanks again for finding me, and I look forward to reading more about your life.

Precious pictures! I’ve been praying for Catherine since before she came home — Prayers answered … dreams realized! I adore those little girl dresses … they remind me of the ones I wore when I was growing up so, so long ago. Catherine is blessed that you are documenting her charmed life so beautifully. Someday, it will mean the world to her and when your memory goes as it will, (I’m speaking from first hand experience!) it will mean the world to you too!

Wendy,
I can’t believe how grown up Catherine looks now… What a great idea to photograph her in your old dresses. She looks darling. Definitely not a baby anymore. It’s so exciting to transition into the next stage, but also sad because you can never go back again. My little girls turn 8 and 10 this fall, and so much is different all of a sudden. They’re both riding bicycles, reading chapter books, wanting to spend more time with friends and less time with mommy.

Oh My God! what a girl Catherine is. She is unbelievable. My son is just 12 months old and he also trying to catch whatever we converse and try to repeat.
