Yin & Yang 2
I had a rather humorous experience the other day that just reminded me how much my life is so yin and yang. I was trying to get my two year old daughter off the toilet, when I somehow ended up with bodily fluids on my left hand and in my right hand my phone was ringing because a very well known fire chief was calling me. I was flipping out because I had poop on one hand (not sure how it happened) and that this particular person was calling was exciting.
Luckily I was able to act cool and knowledgable on my phone conversation with the chief, all while cleaning up from the devastation of a toddler trying to use the potty on her own.
This incident reminded me so much of my life just flips and flops back and forth between motherhood and my work. I guess it wouldn’t seem so strange if I had to commute to my work but my office is in my home. A majority of my business is conducted within the confines of my home and therefore, sometimes a screaming toddler gets added to the mix.
I love my life and the craziness of it. I love how I can go from Vacation Bible School one day and then on a trip to Austin for meetings the next. We go from Little Gym in the morning to an important presentation in the afternoon.
Sometimes the yin and yang of my life tire me out a bit but on most days they work very well together. I love that I can stay home with my daughter and still work from the home. I love that I can keep my identity and my hands dirty in the fire service and yet learn about this new identity that I have as a mother to a boisturous and energetic toddler. Right now, my yin and yang seem to be in order and it makes for a happy me.

I have a similar funny story..although we’re not potty training. Only mine entailed MM trying to fish out of the toilet that which I fished out of the tub. As I’m doing all this, my MIL calls…I’m trying not to disclose what is going on!!! What a comical sight!
The joys of motherhood…combined with the joys of your firefighting career! Don’t you love it?!?!
