Greener Grass 2
The grass is usually not greener on the other side of the fence…or in the forest that I have been dreaming about living near. And while I wish I could craft my day away or pick flowers in the fields, I know my life is pretty darn awesome. Suburbia does have its advantages. We live near a Super-Target that I visit almost every day (just ask my husband), we live close to the beach and the big city. Shopping, medical centers, museums, and really good restaurants are all close to home. It definitely doesn’t hurt to be so close to anything we need or want.
I love my line of work, so much so that it occupies most of my free time and sometimes pushes it’s way into my not so free time. I used to scrapbook, and art journal, and make soap, and sew (just a bit) but now taking care of Catherine and John and keeping up with my work has put that all on the back burner for now. Every once in a while I put together a digital page or two but I just am having a hard time getting into the groove. I guess it’s just the season of my life.
Some days I feel trapped in the four walls of our house. Catherine and I both get restless and bored quite easily, which by the way doesn’t make for a good mix. We like stimulation and people watching and stretching our legs. We like exploring new things and being out ‘on the town.’ But the flip side is she is only two, so we can’t do too much for too long or meltdowns will ensue. Those are the days that daydreaming about fields of flowers and a forest for a backyard seem to be a way to escape from the daily grind of trying to keep up with a house that gets dessimated 10 minutes after cleaning it or chasing after a toddler that can’t quit running. Yeah, the crafty, green, crunchy mom life sounds fabulous for a minute or two, but honestly I wouldn’t change my life for a thing. I love my husband, my daughter, my family and friends, where I live, and what I do…even if that doesn’t include crafting beyond fngerpaints.

hey, one thing about always chasing a toddler is…it’s a good work out! At least that’s my thinking…in fact, I’ve been able to keep the “in China” weight loss off since coming home b/c of little Miss Megan! YEAH!
