…How Does Your Garden Grow? 1
I have been begging and begging to have a garden for a couple of years now. I finally brow beat John into makeing three boxes for me so that we could have raised beds to grow vegetables. We had some old fencing left over from the Hurricane Ike, and so they made for perfect materials to build the boxes. John managed to whip out three pretty darn quickly. I was amazed and felt a little gushy inside over his ability to work a saw.
Anyway, we have filled two boxes with all of the fun dirt and dirt paraphanelia we could find. Let’s just say that I think we could get away with an ag exemption because it smells like we have a small cow living in the backyard. I heard that plants like that kind of thing. We shall see I guess.
John wants to try and plants some corn and Catherine couldn’t resist getting into the seed bag. Maybe she thought she would get popcorn out of it. Who knows? I do know that she was OBSESSED with the corn seeds.
John is a bit of a perfectionist at times and he just had to mark off a grid with string and staples to make sure everything is perfect.
After hours of work, dirt, and a few ‘no, no Catherine’s! we managed to build two boxes that are planted with tomatoes, squash, cucumber, corn, melons, and peppers. I really, really, really hope this works out for us!! Wish us luck or give us some advice!
