The Last Thing I Want to See… Comments Off
A friend of mine was telling me about a new movie called Blindness. I like drama type films, especially when it has something to do about epidemics. The medic in me wonders about how we would respond and react if there were to be an epidemic. So, she thought I would be interested in this film, especially because it has a really cool website that goes along with the theme of the movie.
Based on a novel by Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago, Blindness is about a city that is ravaged by an epidemic of instant "white blindness". Those
first afflicted are quarantined by the authorities in an abandoned
mental hospital where the newly created "society of the blind" quickly
breaks down. From IMDB, 'A doctor's wife becomes the only person with the ability to see in a
town where everyone is struck with a mysterious case of sudden
blindness. She feigns illness in order to take care of her husband as
her surrounding community breaks down into chaos and disorder.'
Can you imagine a whole community plagued by sudden blindness? The mass chaos and confusion that would occur?
The corresponding website,i am blind is really cool because participants can post photos of the last things that they would like to see should they go blind. Talk about giving one a whole new perspective on life! What would be the last thing that you would want to see if you were to go blind? I would want to see my family. But to get to see other's perspective on what they would want to see is pretty enlightning. Anyway, you can post the photos up on i am blind and then participate in forums that mirror the movie. I have really enjoyed looking at the photos and enjoying the posts! And I can't wait to see the movie!
