A Week in the Life of….

I decided that I was going to try and stir up the creative juices and also capture more of our life by participating in Ali Edwards' photo/scrapbooking challenge, A Week in the Life of.  Basically you capture various moments and memories throughout each day of one particular week.  Most of the participants are participating this week.  I decided that I was also going to document this particular week but I won't be making the posts on my blog until next week.  I do plan on making posts to Flickr though if you are interested in seeing what photos I will be using.  This week is already so hectic that I don't want to give myself any added pressure of having to reformat, post and then journal photos each day.

I did decide to start my week off for this challenge yesterday.  The day already proved to be challenging and ever-changing when I thought we would be returning back from Galveston at about 2pm but didn't get back until almost 9pm.  See why I can't put the added pressure of doing the blogging the same week I am documenting?  So stay tuned for my own personal documentary next week.

Yesterday we ended up in Bolivar and that's why things got a bit hectic yesterday.  Thank the Lord for Auntie Lisa and Uncle Ken for being willing to be so flexible on watching Catherine!  Big hugs to them!  Bolivar was just so devastated by Hurricane Ike.  In all honesty, I was expecting most of Galveston to look like Bolivar and thank goodness it didn't.  I feel so deeply for those people who live over there.  Everything is just destroyed or is completely gone.  I will write a little bit more in depth about our trip out there later in the week.  I actually will be going out there again on Wednesday to do some assessments of the fire department.  I was supposed to go out to Washington DC and to the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial but had to cancel so I could do this work.  If you would like to see photos from our trip to Bolivar, you can also see those on Flickr as well.  Just scroll through the middle of the set, photos of Bolivar begin after the photo of me and the guy in the green apron giving a thumbs up sign.

Thanks for posting all the pics. I’ve been faithfully following along. Isn’t it incredible how 3 lawn chairs & a grill can be in place right next to cars buried in the sand or under houses or remnants of houses!?!
