2 Days and Counting 6
Today was our consulate appointment but our guide went for us. We just had to be in our hotel room from 10am-12pm just in case there were any questions. John still isn’t feeling al that hot, so he stayed in and napped during that time while Cathy and I went out to walk the island. There were no questions asked and we are good to go with the American government, so tomorrow we go to the office and take some sort of oath. In the afternoon we went to visit the historical temple which was quite interesting. There were buddah statues almost 3 stories tall. Everywhere there were people offering fruit and food and incense. There were monks chanting in the background. We stayed for about 30 minutes and then left to walk some of the side streets. The saddest part of the area where the temple was located were all of the crippled beggers. I just wish I could help each one of them. The saddest were two little children who looked to be about 10 years old who were severely burned that were begging. They were so cheerful and yet they were so badly scarred. It broke my heart. The rest of the afternoon John spent resting and I spent walking the island with Catherine. I am trying to tire her out because she has been waking up at 3am in the morning the past two nights which is not normal from the time we got her. I am not sure what is going on but I am hoping she goes back to sleeping through the night tonight. We are all not feeling to hot and are pretty exhausted. We are really looking forward to coming home. Two more sleeps for us and we are heading back to the USA!

Catherine dancing with Swanky Frankie! Frankie is so cute when she starts to laugh and dance.

Another adventure with a french fry. She actually picked it up and started to chew on it. We were pretty excited. I have a feeling this child will want junk food!

She is starting to pull up on us and stand and sort of scoot along our leg. I think she might be walking before she is crawling. It’s amazing to see how far she has come in just over one week.

Here is our hard as a rock bed. We have to fold the bed cover and two blankets in order to get something that is less hard than concrete.

I’m glad to hear that the appointment went well! Hooray!
Maybe Catherine is coming down with John’s cold? I hope you girls stay healthy and that John is feeling better soon!
God bless

Great pics!
I know what you mean…it’s the trip of a lifetime, but at some point it’s time to go home!
Hope your last couple days are memorable, and your trip home is uneventful!

Ha! that room looks soooo much like ours (I know, they all look alike), but our bed was also hard as a rock, except there was ONE spot where the metal was poking up (exactly where John’s hip is in the pic) which made us so sore. We had to keep switching sides, so that the torture was evenly distributed between 4 hips! Hang in there!

I am interested in what you think of the appointment tomorrow. The oath, and the part before it.
Lisa
PS I hope your next two days and nights go fast with a lot of good things and memories.

I just read your story (Anam told us about you)- and WOW! What a lot to go through. Congradulations on your adoption, and I can’t wait to hear more once you get home!
